What actually counts as an emergency
We would rather define this properly than pretend everything is urgent. A wasp nest beside a front door, a rodent in a commercial kitchen during service, a dead animal smell in a bedroom, a snake or a possum inside a living space, bed bugs discovered in accommodation, or any pest in a childcare, aged care or medical setting — those are genuine same-day jobs and we treat them that way.
An ant trail, some webbing on the eaves or a single cockroach is not an emergency, and we will happily tell you that on the phone and book you in normally at a normal price. Charging emergency rates for routine work is one of the things that gives this industry a bad name.
Call us now, or book normally?
An honest triage, because we would rather you called with the right expectation.
Call now
- A wasp nest at a doorway, a play area or a workplace entrance
- A rodent seen in a food business, especially during service
- A strong dead animal smell, particularly in a bedroom
- A possum, bird or snake inside the living space
- Bed bugs found in a hotel, motel or short-stay property
- Any pest in childcare, aged care or a medical facility
Book in normally
- An ant trail in the kitchen
- Webbing on the eaves and window frames
- One cockroach seen at night
- Silverfish in a wardrobe
- Borer holes in a floorboard with no fresh dust
- An end-of-lease treatment for a move-out next week
A wasp nest by a doorway is the most common genuine emergency we attend, and it is the one most likely to end in an ambulance if left.
A rodent or cockroach seen in service is a compliance problem within hours, which is why we prioritise commercial food premises.
We prioritise these regardless of the pest, because the tolerance for any of it is correctly close to zero.
The five questions that decide how fast we come
Every urgent call gets the same triage. It takes about ninety seconds and it is how we tell a genuine emergency from something that is simply unpleasant.
A wasp nest at the back fence and the same nest beside the front door are different jobs. We ask about children, pets, anyone with a sting allergy, and whether people have to walk past it. Proximity to people, not the pest itself, is what usually makes something urgent.
A rodent in a café during service is a compliance problem within hours, not a pest problem. Food premises, childcare, aged care and medical settings go to the front of the queue regardless of the pest, because the tolerance in those settings is correctly close to zero.
A possum in a roof void can wait until tomorrow. A possum, bird or snake loose inside a room cannot. The same is true of a dead animal smell in a bedroom versus one in a detached garage — the location changes the answer more than the species.
A smell that is building means a recent death and an active problem. One that is fading has passed its peak. Flies appearing today after a week of nothing usually means larvae have started migrating, which is the moment a contained job becomes a spread one.
This matters more than people expect. A cavity nest that has been sealed, a cockroach harbourage that has been sprayed with a repellent, or a rodent that has taken supermarket bait all change what we will find and what we can do. Telling us saves you money.
If what you describe does not need urgent attendance, we say so and book you in normally at a normal price. That costs us a premium callout, and it is the reason you can believe us when we do say something needs attention today.
How we handle urgent work
Two commitments, both easy to check.
Same day does not mean a premium price
Standard same-day work across metropolitan Melbourne is charged at our normal rates. There is no emergency loading for the usual jobs.
Genuine overnight and public holiday attendance may carry an after-hours component, and if it does you will be told the number before we dispatch, not on the invoice.
We will tell you when it can wait
If you describe something that does not need urgent attendance, we will say so and book you in normally. That costs us a premium callout and it is still the right answer.
It also means when we do say something is urgent, you can believe us — which matters most for wasps near an entrance and for anything in a food or care setting.
What we will drop everything for
We would rather define this honestly than call everything an emergency. These are the jobs we prioritise — and if what you have is not on this list we will tell you so and book you in normally at a normal price.

What happens when you call
Usually under four steps and under a day.
You call
Answered by a person, 24 hours. We ask what you are seeing, where, and who is at risk — children, pets, allergies, customers.
Triage
We tell you honestly whether it is same-day urgent or can be booked normally, and give you the price before dispatch.
Attendance
A licensed technician attends, usually the same day across metropolitan Melbourne.
Make safe, then fix
We deal with the immediate risk first, then set out what is needed to stop it recurring — which is often a separate, cheaper piece of work.
What same-day work costs
Standard same-day attendance is charged at our normal rates with no emergency loading. Every price is a from price and depends on the pest and the property — you get the figure before we dispatch, not afterwards.
Same-day general treatment
Standard same-day attendance and treatment across metropolitan Melbourne.
Urgent wasp or rodent
Wasp nest at an entrance or urgent rodent attendance — priced by the specific service, not by urgency.
After hours and public holidays
Genuine overnight, weekend evening and public holiday attendance, quoted before dispatch.
Clear written quotes. We beat any written quote by 5%. Commercial, strata and end-of-lease jobs are quoted on inspection.
A price before we dispatch
You are told what it will cost before a technician is sent, including any after-hours component. We will also tell you if it can safely wait and book you in normally instead — that costs us a premium callout and it is still the right answer.
What waiting costs on an urgent job
These are the situations where a day genuinely matters.
Stings
A wasp nest by a door will eventually be walked into. Multiple stings from a disturbed nest are a medical emergency.
Trading
A pest seen by a customer or an inspector in a food business can suspend trading the same day.
Summer decay
In Melbourne heat, a carcass and the maggots that follow escalate within 48 hours.
Spread
Bed bugs in accommodation move room to room while you wait, multiplying the cost of fixing it.
Same-Day Pest Control questions we get asked
If yours is not here, call 0435 073 966 — we will answer it on the phone without booking you in first.
Call 0435 073 966Can you really come today?
Yes, across metropolitan Melbourne in most cases, and we answer the phone 24 hours including weekends and public holidays. Call rather than using the form if it is urgent — it is considerably faster.
Do you charge extra for same-day service?
No. Standard same-day work is charged at our normal rates with no emergency loading. Genuine overnight or public holiday attendance may carry an after-hours component, and you are told that figure before we dispatch.
What counts as an emergency?
A wasp nest at a doorway or play area, a rodent in a food business, a strong dead animal smell, a possum or snake inside a living space, bed bugs in accommodation, and any pest in a childcare, aged care or medical setting. Ant trails, webbing and a single cockroach are not — and we will tell you so and book you in normally.
How much does emergency pest control cost in Melbourne?
Same-day general treatment starts from $189, urgent wasp or rodent attendance from $159, and genuine after-hours or public holiday attendance from $290. You get the figure before we dispatch.
What areas do you cover for same-day work?
All of metropolitan Melbourne — inner north and east, bayside, the western and south-eastern growth corridors and the outer fringe. If you are not sure whether you are in range, call and ask.
It is 2am. Will someone actually answer?
Yes. We answer around the clock. Whether a technician is dispatched at 2am depends on what is happening — for a wasp nest we will usually attend first thing, for a rodent in a commercial kitchen mid-service we will come out.
Can you treat it on the first visit?
Usually yes for wasps, rodents, dead animals and general treatments. Bed bugs and German cockroaches need a planned programme with preparation and a follow-up, so the first visit will be assessment and immediate risk reduction.
What should I do while I wait?
Keep people and pets away from the area. Do not block a wasp entry point, do not disturb a termite workings, and do not spray a cockroach or ant trail — all three make our job harder and yours longer.
